What is Red Light Therapy? A Beginner's Guide continued.

Red light therapy has become increasingly popular as people look for convenient ways to support their skincare, recovery and generally wellbeing routines. But what exactly is it?

Re light therapy, also known as photobiomodulation (PMB), uses specific wavelengths of light delivered to the body using LEDs or lasers. Unlike ultraviolet light, which can damage skin, red and near-infrared light are non-ionising forms of light used at reatively low energy levels.

Glowrite devices use different combinations of red and near-infrared wavelengths depending on the product. Our panels, mat and belt use 660nm red light and 850nm near-infrared light, while our LED face masks provide additional light modes.

Research into photobiomodulation has investigated a wide range of applications, including skin health, pain, wound healing and exercise-related recovery. However, results depend on factors such as wavelength, treatment dose, treatment area and frequency, so red light therapy should not be viewed as a one-size-fits-all solution.

For Skincare, LED devices have been studied for concerns including acne and skin rejuvenation, such as the 8-Colour LED Face & Neck Mask or the Age-R Facial Skincare device. For recovery, research has also investigated whether photobiomodulation can influence pain and other recovery-related outcomes, such as the Red Light Therapy Mat or the range or Therapy Panels that we offer.

One of the attractions of red light therapy is its simplicity. It is non-invasive and can be incorporated into a regular home routine without creams, injections or appointments.

At Glowrite, our approach is simple: make light therapy technology easier to understand and easier to incorporate into everyday life.

Illuminate your wellbeing, one session at a time.
